Today on The Stay At Home Chef I’m showing
you how to make
Easy Chinese Pepper Steak
This is one of those dinners that’s super
easy to make and it comes together in just
We’ll start by making our sauce
You’ll need 1/4 cup of soy sauce
1 tablespoon of rice wine vinegar
and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
You’ll also need 1/2 cup of beef broth
2 tablespoons of cornstarch to thicken things
4 cloves of minced garlic
2 teaspoons of minced ginger and I just used
a little squeeze bottle
1 tablespoon of sugar
and 1 teaspoon of black pepper (up to 1 tablespoon)
and whisk this all together
It smells so good!
Set that aside for a second and we’re going
to cut our vegetables.
We’re going to cut 3 bell peppers into little
1 inch squares
and I’m using 1 green and 2 red today
You want kind of bite sized pieces so I’m
just going to square it off here
and cut into little pieces like so.
Then you’ll also want to slice 1 white onion
Set the vegetables aside and we’ll grab our
We’re using top sirloin beef today and you
want to slice that
into thin little 1/4 inch slices
You want to slice about 1 pound to 1 1/2 pounds
of the sirloin
We’ve got our meat, we’ve got our veggies,
we’ve got our sauce
We’re ready to Wok it up!
Get 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil heating
in your wok
or you can use a large heavy skillet.
Then we’ll add in our meat and brown it off
We just want to give it a nice sear which
will take about 2 to 3 minutes
in this hot wok
The benefit of using a wok is that it cooks
a lot hotter and a lot faster
So once your beef is seared you’ll remove
it from the wok
add in a little more oil if you need to and
then slide in your bell peppers and onion
Saute those until they’re tender crisp and
once again a wok
cooks nice and fast so it’ll only take a few
Then we’ll add back in the beef
Pour in our ginger-garlic sauce
Toss this around and let that sauce cook for
1 to 2 minutes
And then you my friends are ready to eat!
You can serve this up by itself or over rice.
